Checklist for overnight admission

Checklist for overnight admission

To ensure a smooth admission process, we provide you with an overview of some practical details:

  • Check in at the reception desk in the hospital's main entrance.
  • Notify us in advance if you are unable to come due to circumstances or illness by calling this number: +32 3 821 30 00.
  • Always bring your eID, KidsID, or ISI+ card to the UZA. This is important because it allows us to apply the third-party payment system. With this system, you only pay your share of the costs to the healthcare provider (copayment), and other costs are directly reimbursed by your health insurance fund. If you do not have your eID, KidsID, or ISI+ card with you at the hospital from 01/01/2024, you will be required to pay a deposit for medical services. Without scanning your eID, ISI+ card, or KidsID, the regulations no longer permit the use of the third-party payment system.
  • Remember to inform your health insurance fund, hospitalization insurance, general practitioner, and employer.
  • Bring a list of the medications you are taking.
  • If applicable, bring any referral letters, X-rays, lab results, vaccination card, etc.
  • Try to bring as few valuable items as possible. Store them in the safe in your bedside table.
  • Bring personal clothing, nightwear, underwear, bathrobe, slippers, toiletries, towels and washcloths, reading material, and, if your child is being admitted, a stuffed animal.
  • Arrange for accommodation for your family members if they live far from the hospital. For example, family members and visitors can stay at the Drie Eiken hotel, located near the UZA.
  • In our hospital, you will be discharged before 12 p.m. Inform your family before leaving the hospital, arrange transportation, and, if necessary, organize home care or assistance.
