If you are a victim of sexual violence, it’s important to seek help immediately. This is often a big step, but you deserve that help. Know that you are not alone. We are here for you.

You can visit a Care Centre after Sexual Violence (CCSV) in complete confidentiality for medical care, psychological support and a forensic examination after sexual violence. We are also happy to help you here if you want to report it to the police. Together we will look at what kind of help you need and you can choose which actions you want to take. The sooner you seek help, the better we can help you.

Psychological care

  • the initial psychological concerns: someone to listen, information on what kind of reactions can normally occur after a shocking event, advice on how to deal with them
  • further counselling from the psychologist for the Care Centers after Sexual Violence

Medical care

  • care of wounds and injuries
  • investigating and treating all kinds of physical, sexual or reproductive consequences

 Forensic investigation

  • determining injuries
  • investigating traces of the perpetrator
  • gathering evidence for possibly pressing charges and going to court

Reporting

  • filing a report with the police if desired, with the help of specially trained vice inspectors

Follow-up afterwards

  • medical follow-up for any medication or for injuries
  • psychological follow-up for the processing of the event

You will receive this total care by specially trained forensic nurses who work together with and are supported by specialists such as emergency physicians, gynaecologists, urologists, paediatricians, geriatricians, psychiatrists and specially trained psychologists for the Care Centers after Sexual Violence.

Care centre after Sexual Violence at the UZA: all care and aftercare under one warm roof 

You can always visit the Care Centre after Sexual Violence Antwerp at Zorghotel Drie Eiken, on the site of the UZA. It is a warm and homelike place, where you can receive care day and night from a multidisciplinary team. The forensic nurses play an important role as the first point of contact and connection between the various departments at the UZA. Where necessary, they call in additional help from emergency doctors, gynaecologists, urologists, paediatricians, geriatricians, psychiatrists or specialised psychologists. You also always have the option to file a report here. Specially trained vice inspectors will then come to the care centre to take your statement. In addition, there is an aftercare programme where, if you wish, you will be further monitored psychologically.
