Coronavirus (COVID-19) - ENG

Information for patients and visitors

Out of concern for our patients and caregivers, UZA is taking some active measures against Covid-19 Coronavirus.

Prevention guidelines

I have an appointment or planned hospital admission at UZA. Will this take place?

At the resquest of the government, UZA has decided to pospone non-urgent appointments for the time being. What does this mean for you?

  • If your appointment is cancelled, you will personally inform you about this decision.
  • If you don't hear from us, you appointment will take place as planned. If you do have flu-like symptoms, please contact the medical service where you have your appointment in order to discuss your situation.

I wish to visit a patient at UZA. Is this possible?

In order to protect patients and caregivers, the government has decided to no longer allow visitors in hospitals.

This means that until further notice, it is not allowed to visit patients. This measure does not apply to:

  • Maternity, neonatal care unit and paediatric ward: Parents are still allowed to visit their children. In the absence of one of the parents, one person of trust may also join. This always has to be the same person.
  • Palliative care or urgent visit: If a visit cannot be postponed, please contact the medical service where the patient resides in order to discuss any possibilities.
As a visitor, you can bring clean laundry and the patient's personal belongings to the cafeteria in the entrance hall every day (weekdays: 13:00h - 20:00h / weekend: 13:00h - 17:00h). Collect everything in a closed bag. You can also collect used laundry in the cafeteria. A team of volunteers will bring the clean laundry and personal belongings to your partner, friend or family member.

Are the cafeteria, sandwich shop and gift shop still open?

As of Friday night 13/3/2020, the cafeteria and gift shop in the entrance hall will be closed. The Shop&Go Delhaize and sandwich shop will remain open for business. In order to avoid long queues, additional staff will be made available. Please keep a safe distance from other people.

Temporarily, only payments using bank cards will be allowed. Cash payments will not be accepted.

Openings hours as of 14/3/2020:

  • Sandwich shop: weekdays from 8.30 till 15.00
  • Shop&Go Delhaize: weekdays from 8.30 till 20.00, weekends from 12.00 till 18.00
  • Gift shop: closed
  • Cafeteria: closed

Queen Mathilde Mother and child centre only accessible via the main entrance

As from today (14 March), the Mother and Child Center will only be accessible via the main entrance of UZA. Park your car in the main car park (Drie Eikenstraat, 655) and continue your route to the MKC from the main entrance.

What can I do to protect my own and others' health?
