Analysis of bodily materials

Analysis of bodily materials

In accordance with article 20 of the law of 19 December 2008 on human bodily materials we would like to point out the possibility that your bodily materials, which remain after the execution of a diagnostic investigation or after an intervention (remaining tissue), can be used for scientific research.

Therefore the Antwerp University Hospital possesses a biobank, in which remaining bodily materials and associated data collected with them are coded and stored for scientific research purposes only.

The ethics committee of the UZA ensures compliance with the law.

If you do not agree to this, you or your representative have the right to refuse use at all times. You can communicate this refusal to the medical director, or the doctor who is responsible for the removal of the bodily materials.
